Texas License to Carry A Handgun

 

TEXAS LICENSE TO CARRY A HANDGUN

NOW ONLINE!

COURSE OVERVIEW:

This training is required by the Texas Department of Public Safety before they will issue your license to carry a handgun.  We are certified by TX DPS to conduct this training.

The course covers four areas

  • Laws that relate to weapons and the use of deadly force
  • Handgun use and safety
  • Non-violent dispute resolution
  • Safe storage

We offer the classroom portion of the LTC training online, it is a 4-6 hour course that is done online, on your schedule and at your pace 24/7 in the comfort of your home. You can take the full class which includes the Proficiency demonstration (shooting test) or take just the classroom portion and complete the proficiency demonstration later. 

There is a 25 question test and a 50 round shooting proficiency demonstration that must be completed before you can receive your LTC-104 form to send to DPS and receive your License to Carry.

You only need to bring your pistol, ammunition (50 rounds minimum, but more is recommended if you need to reshoot the test or need to improve some skills) and your safety gear. Your fees cover training aids, targets and your range fee. Our fees do not include any fees paid to the State or your ammunition or firearm rental if needed.

THIS IS NOT A BASIC SHOOTING CLASS; you must be able to demonstrate the safe use of your firearm. If you have never used a handgun or have limited experience, we recommend taking our Pistol 1 class first. We can also discuss a blended class that can include both courses.

This will allow you to take the online classroom part of the training only. Once you complete the online portion, You can complete the shooting portion with us, or another qualified instructor of your choice.

(THE SHOOTING TEST)

Did you complete your online course with a different vendor? Thats Ok, we can complete the LTC proficiency test for you. It takes between 90 minutes to 2 hours, completed entirely on the range. We will meet at the range, complete the DPS mandated 1 hour of firearms training by conducting our shooter tune up class. We will determine which fundamentals need some improvement, then complete the shooting portion and ensure that your paperwork is complete. This is also your opportunity to clear up any questions that you may have about the license process or your online course with an experienced instructor. Please contact us for more information.
