PISTOL TRAINING COURSES

PISTOL 1: This 90 minute course is for the first time pistol owner or those with limited experience
Typical classes cover the following:
- Range orientation, range commands
- Firearms Safety
- Nomenclature of pistol parts
- Basic pistol operation
- Ammunition components and choices
- Shooting fundamentals
- Proper reloads.
- We will also discuss legal issues and what to expect if you are forced to use the firearm to defend yourself or others.
The goal is for students to go from first shots to shooting 8-inch groups, reloading the pistol and correcting common first-time shooter issues. Upon completion, the student will be safe and comfortable handling their pistol or revolver.
PISTOL 2: This 90 minute course is designed for those who have taken Pistol 1 or comparable training. This course is designed for those that want to carry a pistol or have their LTC but have limited prior training or are not comfortable carrying the firearm yet.
Training is tailored to the student’s shooting ability and typically covers:
- Range orientation, range commands
- Firearms Safety
- Refresher on shooting fundamentals
- Draw from a holster
- Types of reloads
- Continue to refine your pistol skills
- Defensive positions
- Controlled pairs
- Hammer Pairs
- Strong and weak hand shooting
- Corrective actions drills
The main goal of this class is to gain more confidence and a higher level of skill with the pistol, and are more comfortable carrying the firearm on a daily basis.

PRACTICAL DEFENSIVE PISTOL
This 90 minute course is designed for Average people that want to learn how to better defend themselves with their pistol
The focus of this course is to improve existing pistol marksmanship skills, learn basic tactical skills, movement, use of cover and concealment, shooting from alternate positions and developing faster follow up shots.
Students will be required to handle their own reloads and malfunctions. This course may use a variety of different target systems such as steel targets, VTAC targets and 3d targets. All drills will be taught in a crawl, walk, run style (discuss, rehearse in dry fire, live fire) regardless of the students prior training or skill level.
This is not a remedial shooting class, this class is meant for people that are familiar and comfortable with handling their firearm. Those looking for a remedial type training or to improve their basic marksmanship skills should consider our basic pistol classes.
The Course typically includes:
- Safety briefing refresher
- Refresher on basic marksmanship
- Examine the draw from the holster (students who have an appropriate holster) other students may use an alternate ready position
- Dry fire warm up
- Live fire warm up, skills refresher
- Trigger control drills
- Shoot from cover
- Shoot from alternate positions
- Shoot from cover while shooting from alternate positions
- Shoot while moving
EQUIPMENT NEEDED BY THE STUDENT:
- Any serviceable pistol or revolver and at least two magazines
- Any serviceable belt holster and ability to carry magazines on the belt
- Eye protection
- Hearing protection
- at least 100 rounds of appropriate caliber ammunition (200 is preferred)
